Disney and Pixar today announced a new multiplatform game called Up, which will be headed to just about every console imaginable, including the PSP. Up is based on the Pixar animated movie of the same name, and features the adventures of two jungle explorers, Carl Fredricksen and his young sidekick, Wilderness Explorer Russell. In the movie as well as the game, the two adventurers set off on a wild journey through the undiscovered jungles of South America.
Players will be able to play from the perspective of all four main characters from the movie - Carl, Russell, Dug the dog or Kevin the prehistoric bird. The console versions will include local cooperative multiplayer, but there is no word yet on whether the PSP will also feature online connectivity. The game is a straight up third-person adventure in which gamers will navigate treacherous jungle terrains, battle dangerous creatures and trek the slippery slopes of the Amazonian Tepuis. It sounds as if the game is aimed at the younger set, similar to recent animation-to-game titles like Kung Fu Panda.
